The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Specialist to join our Advanced Surgery team in New Zealand, based in Auckland. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will play a key role in driving revenue growth and profitability across both existing and new accounts nationwide for our Advanced Surgery portfolio covering surgical sealants and hemostats.

In this position, you will leverage your strong territory management and commercial skills to execute sales strategies, identify and develop new business opportunities, and nurture long-term customer relationships. You will also be responsible for maximising the market presence and adoption of our Advanced Surgery product portfolio, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding outcomes for customers and the business.

You excel at building trusted relationships with clinical and management stakeholders, identifying customer needs, and delivering value-driven outcomes. With strong commercial acumen, account management skills, and a results-oriented mindset, you are confident in driving product adoption, uncovering new business opportunities, and achieving revenue growth targets. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and are motivated by providing exceptional customer service while contributing to the continued success of Baxter's Advanced Surgery portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and networks with clinical and management staff in accounts

  • Accurately represent the features and benefits of the specific product specialist portfolio to customers and potential customers

  • Maintain profitability within the area of responsibility in consultation with sales and marketing personnel

  • Provide market information and any other relevant data as required to maintain a sound understanding of the marketplace

  • Identify incremental business opportunities and develop strategies to gain any sales flowing from such opportunities

  • Facilitate product presentations to induce product usage in key specialties

  • Identify customer needs and personnel responsible to provide in-service and effective use of Baxter’s products

  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of products to facilitate effective and accurate communication with customers

  • Maintain documentation and contacts within accounts to enhance business relationships through effective account management

  • Collaborate with Baxter Sales Management, Marketing and Product Managers, and Advanced Surgery Manager on the development and progress of account management plans and the achievement of gross profit and revenue growth, with regular reviews to monitor outcomes

  • Maintain a complete and detailed understanding of policies and procedures and educate Baxter customers on Baxter policies (e.g., returns goods policy)

  • Coordinate with the Customer Service Team to ensure that account ordering needs are met to the customer's requirements

  • Provide feedback to the Sales Lead on trends in accounts through the preparation and submission of a monthly report, including market (competitive) intelligence

  • Supply new business forecasts to management to ensure materials management adequately meets customer’s needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary degree in Medical Science, Healthcare, Business, Management or related fields

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a commercial/sales role within the Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical industry is desirable

  • Proven experience within Nursing or Allied Science with a view to working in a commercial role

  • Knowledge and application of effective selling skills, including value added selling techniques and Key Account Management is preferred

  • Working knowledge or the Hospital and Healthcare system is highly desirable

  • Highly developed interpersonal effectiveness and relationship-building abilities

  • Accountable for achieving targets and delivering outstanding customer service

  • Collaborative approach and ability to work well with others

  • Willingness to travel as required.
