New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

About the role

Having transitioned from care and maintenance to full production, we are seeking a result-driven Superintendent - Human Resources Information Systems and Benefits with experience building and driving organizational excellence, aligning HR data and reporting strategies with business and production objectives. Reporting to the Manager – HR, the Superintendent plays a critical role in leading and managing the team whilst fostering a high-performance culture, overseeing Benefits administration and governance and information systems ensuring compliance, data and reporting integrity alongside optimising technology and modernising key tools and procedures.

This position requires a strong leader, who acts with integrity whilst holding the team to account against agreed deliverables.  You will need strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of HR systems, data, remuneration and benefits, reporting and governance best practices and be able to quickly focus on detail as required whilst also review broader strategy and practices.

As HR Superintendent, this is a highly visible role where you will partner with business leaders to understand and support their strategic goals and objectives, providing HR expertise in areas such as workforce planning, headcount control, benefits benchmarking and administration and broader external reporting requirements. 

You will drive and implement HR initiatives that improve performance, engagement and retention. Serve as a trusted advisor to the HR Manger and employees, you will develop, update and communicate HR policies, procedures and best practices across the site. 

About you

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field with relevant demonstrable experience in a senior HR leadership role, with a breadth of generalist knowledge across all HR matters, with proven experience in data, reporting and benefits specifically.

Experience of remote operations is essentially, ideally combined with exposure to mining or Oil & Gas with proven strong relationship building skills across a diverse range of stakeholders and cultures demonstrating tenacity and perseverance in a dynamic environment.

Experience of managing continuous improvement, systems and technology improvement plans and ensuring personal accountability and ownership will be key to your success.  People leadership and successfully implementing systems improvement and ensuring outcomes are achieved to agreed KPI’s will be key, with significant opportunity to improve personal performance, best practise and accountabilities.

You must demonstrate strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations and contemporary best practices and a proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels from a wide variety of backgrounds. Experienced with HRIS systems and HR analytics, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment are essential.
