Project Lead

Barrick is looking for a Project Leader to join the Capital Projects team. This person will be responsible for leading and managing projects within the Capital Projects area, administering resources, and establishing work plans to achieve departmental objectives. The role is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects in accordance with agreed timelines, budget, and scope. The position will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage risks, communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of business value. Acts as a liaison between clients/users and the technical team, ensuring agile and efficient project management.

Main Functions and/or Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of assigned projects within the Growth and Replacement Assets (GRA) portfolio, ensuring compliance with safety, scope, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the project and internal and external stakeholders, including operational areas, corporate teams, contractors, consultants, communities, regulatory entities, and government representatives.
  • Develop and maintain project execution strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives, corporate standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Define, manage, and control project scope, establishing clear objectives, deliverables, critical milestones, and measurable success criteria.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, including schedules, budgets, resources, procurement, risks, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of contractors, consultants, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical, contractual, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations, resolving conflicts and ensuring transparent and timely communication.
  • Facilitate key meetings for project decision-making and progress communication.
  • Lead commissioning, operational handover, and project closure processes, ensuring the capture and documentation of lessons learned and best practices for future initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Mining Engineering, or related fields.
  • Specialized training in Project Management, Construction Management, Contract Administration, or Asset Management (preferred).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Microsoft Project.
  • Power BI.
  • 5 years of experience in construction and project management within the mining industry.
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques.
  • Experience in project planning, cost tracking and control, scheduling, and project performance management.
  • Experience in project controls, financial modeling, and project profitability analysis (preferred).
