The Portfolio Manager role combines commercial lending and credit analyst responsibilities. This position requires direct communication with clients, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. The Portfolio Manager works closely with various teams across the bank to manage client relationships and ensure the credit quality of their portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities

Financial Analysis, Credit Underwriting, & Risk Assessment

Assist other lenders in underwriting new loan requests and renewals.
Prepare preliminary assessments for lenders.
Prepare financial analyses, summaries, and opinions for lenders on new, renewal, and existing loans.
Review loan requests, credit history, and financial statements to determine if applications meet lending criteria.
Prepare proposed credit memos, including recommendations for loan pricing and terms, and obtain concurrence from credit approving officers.
Prepare comprehensive credit write-ups to present to approving authorities or loan committees.
Conduct credit reviews and assist in credit investigations, including credit reports and checks.

Portfolio Monitoring & Maintenance

Monitor customer information files to ensure current reports, statements, and tax returns are regularly updated.
Monitor loan portfolio and communicate with borrowers to ensure timely receipt of required financial exhibits.
Maintain credit quality of assigned portfolio within bank standards; escalate risk issues as needed.
Assist lenders in monitoring borrower credit quality, including trend analysis, covenant compliance, and data updates.
Monitor lending workflow software systems and update as appropriate.
Assist lenders with calls on past-due loans as assigned by senior management.

Collaboration & Support

Collaborate with other credit analysts and lenders to ensure timely and high-quality work completion.
Coordinate with related personnel for loan maintenance and troubleshooting.
Assist in assembling materials for committee and board presentations.
Assist in the process of ordering, reviewing, and completing real estate appraisals and evaluations.
Work closely with multiple teams across the bank to ensure a positive customer experience from onboarding through relationship management.

Research & Reporting

Conduct effective research using online sources, interviews, and studies.
Prepare clearly written, structured, and articulate reports to accurately assess risk.

Compliance

The employee is responsible and accountable for establishing and following procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory rules and regulations.

QualificationsPreferred Education, Experience, Technical Knowledge, and Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, or finance
Experience in commercial lending or credit analysis
Knowledge of personal/business financial statements and tax returns.
Experience with financial statement analysis software, workflow, and customer relationship management software.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize meeting deadlines.
