Golf Course Assistant Superintendent
About this role
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to supervise, schedule and train a staff of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees
- Supervise maintenance work and staff to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment while being accountable for the finished results of work
- Coordinate with the Superintendent in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of maintenance practices and projects
- Apply fertilizers and plant protectants, including calibrating sprayers and spreaders; record all applications and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs
- Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed
- Safely operate golf course equipment including but not limited to carts, mowers, rollers, rakes, loaders, automobiles, etc.
- Maintain awareness of changing course conditions, recognize problems, and communicate maintenance needs to the Superintendent
- Passionate and driven candidate with a desire to be part of the team at a Top 100 facility focused on delivering an incomparable guest and golf experience
- Embraces and explores innovative tools, equipment and practices, such as advanced irrigation systems, GPS tracking and turf management software
- Valid Driver's License
- Two-year certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree in Turf Grass Management or related field preferred
- Ability to obtain pesticide license within six (6) months of employment
- 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience
- Ability to work scheduled holidays and weekends
