LET’S EXPLORE THE ROLE

 

The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team of Riggers, performing installation, maintenance and inspection work on radio, broadcast and telecommunication structures/sites across Australia.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Working as part of a team of riggers, performing installation and maintenance work on radio, broadcast and telecommunication structures across Queensland.

  • Install, dismantle and maintain masts, towers poles and associated plant
  • Working at heights on all areas of large broadcast towers.
  • Direct and oversee concrete pours
  • Operate vehicles and mechanical aids where a relevant ticket is held
  • Terminate and install feeders, waveguides and coaxial cable
  • Fault finding on antennas, tails and feeders.
  • Undertake mast and tower verticality
  • Under guidance of the team leader, haul and install waveguides feeders and coaxial feeders in the manufacturers approved manner
  • Install and inspect underground duct, cables and earthing
  • Under guidance of the team leader, mark out work sites using reference pegs or points to the prescribed tolerances
  • Install and maintain earth station antennas
  • Assist in EME Surveys
  • Assist in the installation of rigid line
  • Assist in the installation of low and high-power transmitters and associated equipment
  • Take charge of components of the project as directed by the team leader
  • Undertake site Mast and Tower inspections in accordance with Company systems and processors
  • Complete inspections templates on digital devices.
  • Accurate and timely time-sheeting and management of leave/TOIL
  • As part of a team, be able to work away from home in remote areas for extended periods

This role requires on-site attendance regularly working away from home for extended periods and is unable to be performed remotely or from home due to the nature of the role.

As an experienced telecommunications technician

  • To be successful in this role you are required to:         
    • Demonstrate experience and competency in the key responsibilities listed above
    • Be available to travel extensively
    • Understand, Analyse and conduct work from structural and technical plans
    • Strong written and verbal communication skill
    • Ability to pass regular medical appraisals (fit to climb)

 

  • It is crucial that you have the following tickets and licences
    • Current high-risk licence in intermediate rigging or higher
    • Current Drivers licence
    • Current RF awareness certificate
    • Current white card
    • Current Telstra induction card
    • Current Senior first aid certificate
    • Current working at heights and Tower Rescue certificate
    • Current EWP, forklift mobile plant and crane operator licences will be viewed favourably
