LET’S EXPLORE THE ROLE

As an Energy & Investment Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in supporting energy management, operational performance and capital investment decisions across BAI Communications’ transmission network infrastructure.

 

Working closely with engineering, operations, finance and sustainability teams, you’ll transform complex energy, cost and operational data into clear, actionable insights. Your work will directly influence cost reduction initiatives, efficiency improvements, carbon neutrality goals and long‑term investment decisions.

 

Reporting to the Sustainability & Energy Manager, this role offers exposure to both day‑to‑day operational performance and long‑term strategic investment analysis within a purpose‑driven organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse operational and energy performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Provide quality assurance across energy management processes, including cost tracking, billing accuracy, accruals and invoice processing
  • Monitor and optimise wholesale electricity costs, leading dispute resolution and power recovery activities
  • Support delivery of BAI’s Towards Carbon Neutral program through data analysis and performance tracking
  • Assist with demand response implementation, coordination and reporting across participating sites
  • Compile monthly energy and cost performance reports using internal and external data sources
  • Prepare cost‑benefit analyses and financial models to support capital investment and vendor selection decisions
  • Support energy and emissions compliance reporting using data from internal and external stakeholders

You’re an analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys working with complex datasets and translating them into meaningful insights for decision‑makers. You’re comfortable operating across technical, operational and financial stakeholders, and you bring a strong interest in energy management, sustainability and infrastructure performance.

You’re proactive, detail‑focused and able to manage competing priorities while delivering accurate, on‑time analysis that drives business value.

 

Technical Skills Required

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills for cost tracking and data analysis
  • Data analysis and statistical methods
  • Financial modelling, cost‑benefit analysis and commercial understanding
  • Experience supporting business case development and investment decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analysis clearly to senior stakeholders

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in an analytical role (energy, finance, operations or business analysis)
  • Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and performance reporting
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Must be able to undertake a Criminal History Check
  • Role must be performed from within Australia
