Senior Payroll Specialist
About this role
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for leading and managing payroll processes for over 500 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role involves preparing specialized payroll documents, managing payroll-related inquiries, and supporting various payroll projects and audits.
The compensation for this role will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Owns the weekly processing of Canadian payroll
- Leads in the preparation of correspondence, reports, and specialized documents related to payroll.
- Conducts monthly union reporting and manage other union-related correspondences.
- Provides support on payroll projects and union audits.
- Completes all correspondence related to garnishments and enter information into ADP.
- Participates in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required.
What You'll Need For Success:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably with experience in ADP or similar payroll systems.
- Proven track record of managing complex payroll operations for a large organization.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze large sets of data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, including the use of complex formulas and pivot tables.
- In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong commitment to maintaining data integrity.
- Superior organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
- The role requires mobility within work environments, use of office equipment, lifting up to 20 pounds, clear vision and hearing, effective communication skills, and occasional travel for meetings and training sessions.
