About the role:
Reports to the Banking Relationship Manager
The purpose of this role, as part of the US Banking Team, is to support the delivery of an efficient, controlled, and client-focused payments service for internal stakeholders and clients.
This newly created role will contribute to the continued development of the US Banking operating model by strengthening payment execution, control oversight, and client service delivery as we continue to expand our support for US-based fund administration activity.
Key responsibilities:
Review and approve payments through US banking platforms and payment portals, ensuring payments are completed accurately and within agreed service level agreements.
Assist with and validate supporting payment processes to promote straight-through processing for in-scope payment activity, where applicable.
Coordinate with the broader Banking Team to ensure US payment activity is processed in accordance with internal deadlines, bank cut-off times, approval requirements, and client expectations.
Partner with Operations on the day-to-day delivery of business-as-usual payment tasks, including payment preparation, review, release, exception management, and escalation.
Work with client-facing teams to support payment-related inquiries, provide guidance on US banking requirements, and help resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
Follow and enforce the applicable payment control framework, including maker/checker controls, segregation of duties, approval evidence, audit trail requirements, and escalation procedures.
Support the development and ongoing maintenance of US payment policies, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and control frameworks.
Supervise, coach, and support the training and development of direct reports, ensuring consistent application of procedures, controls, and service standards.
Participate in the performance review process for direct reports, providing feedback on quality, control adherence, productivity, and client service delivery.
Support ad hoc initiatives and projects related to US banking operations, payment process improvement, platform enhancements, and control transformation.
Skills, knowledge, expertise:
Prior banking, treasury, payments, or cash management experience is essential.
Knowledge of US payment methods and banking channels, including ACH, domestic wires, Fedwire, SWIFT, bank portals, and payment approval workflows, is preferred.
A good understanding of fund structures and experience in the alternative investment funds industry is beneficial.
Strong understanding of payment controls, fraud prevention, segregation of duties, authorization standards, and audit trail expectations.
Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines in a time-sensitive payment environment.
Professional interpersonal skills are required to build effective working relationships with colleagues, client-facing teams, banks, and broader business contacts.
Training will be provided on internal procedures, technical requirements, and banking systems used by the team. The successful candidate will need to learn new systems quickly, apply controls consistently, and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients, as strong working relationships are central to the way we operate.
