Job Details
Operate light construction equipment including
Backhoes
Rollers/Compactors
Street Sweepers
Small loaders and other light equipment as assigned
Perform site clearing and site preparation activities
Assist with excavation and backfilling for underground utility installation, including storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water lines
Perform fine grading and compaction in preparation for asphalt or concrete paving
Sweep roadways and construction sites before, during, and after paving operations
Work safely around underground utilities and follow all excavation safety procedures
Load, move, and distribute materials as directed
Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment
Perform basic preventive maintenance, including checking fluid levels, cleaning equipment, and reporting mechanical issues
Assist labor crews with ground work when equipment operation is not required
Read and follow grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating light construction equipment preferred
Experience in site development, underground utilities, grading, or paving operations is preferred
Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus
Ability to safely operate multiple types of light construction equipment
Basic understanding of construction plans, grading, and excavation practices
