Position Summary

As the Safety Director at Auld & White Constructors, you will lead the strategic development, execution, and continuous improvement of our safety program while partnering closely with Operations Leadership to ensure safety is fully embedded in every phase of project delivery. In this role, you will serve as the company’s subject matter expert on safety and risk management, guiding training, compliance, and field engagement across all operations. You will play a key role in advancing AWC’s vision of a world-class safety culture that protects team members, strengthens operational performance, and differentiates us in the marketplace.

Position Description

  • Build and sustain a strong safety culture by engaging employees, subcontractors, and project teams in AWC’s safety initiatives, training, and field execution.
  • Serve as the company’s safety and risk management expert, advising leadership and driving improvements in incident reduction, reporting, and compliance.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of AWC’s safety strategy, ensuring alignment with regulations, best practices, and company goals.
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety assessments, and high-risk reviews to identify hazards and implement corrective actions during planning and execution.
  • Lead incident investigations, including injuries and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics, providing leadership with trends, insights, and recommendations to support data-driven improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, field leaders, safety staff, and subcontractors to promote consistent safety execution and strengthen accountability across projects.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • At least 10 years of commercial construction experience, including 5 or more years in a construction safety leadership role.
  • CSP preferred; CHST, ASP, or a comparable construction safety certification required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
