About this role
In your role as a Critical Care Transport Nurse, you are responsible for assessing, coordinating, and delivering care during the emergency treatment and critical care transport of patients from one facility to another.
Essential Functions:
- Represent Atlantic Health with the highest level of professionalism. Work collaboratively with all members of the critical care transport team, delegate appropriately and provide feedback to team members as appropriate. Interact effectively and efficiently with members of the medical team, transferring facility, and on-scene healthcare providers.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their family. Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability to ensure positive patient experiences and improve patient outcomes throughout the community and region.
- Ensure continual operational readiness, including completion of daily vehicle and equipment checks. Respond promptly to all transport requests. Work efficiently to adhere to AMH expectations for timely and safe transport.
- Demonstrate superior clinical abilities and judgment in the delivery of advanced life support interventions to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. Anticipate, manage, and resolve problems associated with changing clinical and operational conditions in a highly autonomous care environment.
- Participate in regular team meetings, conference calls, and training as required for the role.
- Maintain continual compliance with Atlantic Health (AH)/AMH policies including maintaining and providing copies of all required licenses and certifications in a timely manner.
- Attend all requirement mandatory education, including competency assessments, quarterly airway training, new procedure / equipment in-services, and other education as assigned. Demonstrate proficiency through competency assessments in job specific skills such as, but not limited to; ventilator management (both invasive and noninvasive modes), endotracheal intubation, management of cardiac support devices, management of invasive hemodynamic monitoring devices, and application of critical care transport protocols.
- Participate in ongoing continuing education and quality improvement activities as required. Participate in quality assurance activities; respond promptly and appropriately to feedback.
- Document accurately and completely all patient assessment and patient care utilizing the appropriate electronic charting program. Complete documentation in accordance with AMH policy and OEMS regulations for both completeness and timeliness.
