Pay Rate:

$17.26 per hour

Hours:

Up to 20 hours per week. This is a part-time position with hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Availability is also needed in the evening and on weekend for special events. Hours to be arranged based on program needs.

Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision, The Art Programs and Exhibits Assistant will plan and lead Drop-In Art Workshops and other programming events, offering students a hands-on opportunity to explore and develop their artistic interests in a welcoming environment. They will also assist in scheduling a variety of art exhibits within the Titan Student Union’s gallery spaces.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handle artwork, which may include receiving, unpacking, and packing artwork; hanging and placement of artwork; handling artwork on loan or in permanent collection
  • Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibitions
  • Plan and lead Drop-In Art Workshops, offering a diverse range of creative classes
  • Work with ASI Marketing and Design to develop marketing materials for workshops, art shows, and special events
  • Teach appropriate class content according to class descriptions provided
  • Provide appropriate lesson plans for each workshop session
  • Develop list of equipment and supply needs; Maintain an organized storage area
  • Collaborate with ASI and campus partners to enhance events by providing engaging art activities
  • Promote events and programs in tabling outreach opportunities
  • Modify instruction for participants with different skill levels
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Promote positive image of ASI by providing customer service within the TSU
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures; attend safety meetings as scheduled
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Campus Health and Safety Requirements
    • CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program
    • Data Security and FERPA
    • Gender Equity and Title IX
    • Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)

Work Environment:

  • Work is typically performed indoors in a climate- controlled environment
  • Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain related to walking, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • The working environment is generally favorable

Physical Demands:

  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to:  walking, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in confined space, lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying loads.
  • Must be physically able to complete lifting, pushing, pulling, moving and carrying items up to 50 pounds (unassisted) and 100 pounds (with assistance), and using ladders.
