Our Port of Southampton is the UK’s number one hub for deep sea trade and a critical link in supply chains serving businesses and manufacturers throughout the nation. We process 600,000 vehicles per year and have around three million passengers annually pass through the five cruise terminals. As part of an efficiency improvement we're looking to bring our Legionnaires management in-house and are looking to recruit 2 x facilities technicians (one on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract and one on a permanent basis) to carry out the delivery of Legionella compliance activities across the port.

Accountabilities
-  The safe, complaint and efficient delivery of water hygiene tasks, accurate data reporting and supporting wider facilities monitoring while maintaining high standards of safety, communication and operational performance.

  •  Ensure all inspections, readings, and sampling activities are recorded accurately and entered company systems in a timely manner, maintaining full audit compliance.
  •  Accountable for the correct collection, labelling, storage, and transportation of water samples to ensure valid laboratory results. Reviewing the results, once received, to make decisions on any follow actions and ensure they are implemented 
  •  Responsible for planning and executing daily tasks efficiently across the port estate to maximise productivity and meet programme deadlines.
  •  Identify and promptly report any non-compliance, system defects, or health risks associated with water systems.
  •  Work in full compliance with company health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE and adherence to safe systems of work.


Skills & Experience

  •  Full UK driving licence
  •  Experience working in a Maintenance, Facilities or operational environment
  •  Experience working independently in a mobile or site-based role
  •  Experience following procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
  •  Previous Legionella / Water Hygiene experience (Ideal) 
  •  Knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG274 guidance (Ideal) 
  •  Water hygiene training or certification (Ideal) 
  •  Experience using CMMS systems
  •  Experience carrying out meter readings or utilities data collection
  •  Basic understanding of building services or water systems
