This Human Resources Generalist role is based 100% on-site at our manufacturing facility in Southfield, Michigan, supporting our newly acquired IDP brand.

What would you do as our Human Resources Generalist?

You'll work closely with the HR Director, you'll support a variety of human resources and safety initiatives that help create a positive employee experience, foster a strong culture of safety, and support the day-to-day needs of our manufacturing operation.

 

You will also:

  • Serve as a trusted resource to employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, employee relations matters, workplace investigations, accommodations, performance concerns, and other personnel issues.
  • Lead and support site safety initiatives, including safety committee activities, training, audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and recordkeeping.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and retention initiatives for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims and assist with return-to-work processes.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, and development programs that enhance the employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data within HRIS and related systems.
  • Build strong relationships with employees through regular communication and a visible presence on the manufacturing floor.
  • Partner with the HR Director on special projects and other HR and safety initiatives that support the needs of the business.

 

The Skills and Experience You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting workplace safety programs and a working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms; experience with SuccessFactors and ADP eTime is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Professional HR certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) are a plus.
