T26/27 SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (OSE)
About this role
Human Resources announces a 1.0 FTE position located in the Office of Special Education at the Syphax Education Center. The holder of this position reports directly to the Supervisor of Special Education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete appropriate assessments and reports on students referred for speech and language evaluation in
required timelines. - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes but not limited to teachers, reading specialist, EL teachers,
other related service providers. - Vary instructional techniques and service delivery to meet individual students needs emphasizing integration and
the general education curriculum. - Participate in review of assessment information for referred students as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Develop, implement and monitor IEP goals and objectives.
- Maintain current and appropriate student data records.
- Participate in continuing professional education and research.
- Support assistive technology assessments and services.
- Provide assessment and treatment for multilingual and limited English proficient students who are disabled.
- Screen all students new to Arlington Public Schools.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports of evaluations and progress.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
- Familiarity with a variety of service delivery models and speech therapy treatment modalities.
- Participate in pre-referral intervention for students.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the above mentioned area.
- Knowledge of best instructional practices.
- Ability to integrate technology.
- Experience in educational and instructional leadership.
- Dual endorsed preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
- Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- The Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology shall issue licenses to such persons without examination,
upon review of credentials and payment of an application fee in accordance with regulations of the Board for school
speech-language pathologists. - Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is
preferred but not required.
SALARY:
- Salary based on the 2026-27 T-Scale salary schedule.
