About this role
The Squad Leader is a hybrid technical and people leadership role responsible for leading a cross[1]functional engineering squad to deliver high-quality, production-ready software. The role combines
technical excellence, agile leadership, customer-focused problem solving, and strong relationship
management to ensure business value delivery and team growth.
Core Responsibilities
People Management
People & Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a squad of 5–8 engineers (backend, full-stack, QA), including matrix
collaboration with DevOps
- Drive career development, performance management, and hiring
- Foster a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
- Build strong personal relationships within the squad and across the organization
Technical Leadership & Quality
- Enforce coding standards, architecture guidelines, security (OWASP), and test coverage
- Ensure CI/CD integrity, main branch stability, and regression prevention
- Guide technical design decisions, manage technical debt, and support cross-squad integrations
- Ensure backward compatibility, feature flag usage, and release readiness
Agile & Delivery Ownership
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives, demos)
- Partner with PM/PO on backlog prioritization and readiness
- Proactively remove blockers and manage dependencies
- Ensure every sprint delivers mergeable, demo-ready, production-quality increments
Customer & Stakeholder Focus
- Act as a key technical point of contact for customer-impacting issues
- Lead investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of customer-reported problems
- Translate customer needs and pain points into actionable technical solutions
- Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Product, Customer Support, and stakeholders
- Communicate status, risks, and outcomes clearly and proactively
Continuous Improvement & Operations
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, and preventive actions
- Track and improve delivery, quality, and team health metrics
- Promote continuous learning, process optimization, and innovation
Required Qualifications
Technical
- 5+ years in software development (backend, full-stack, QA exposure), * advantage: ML/AI.
- Strong knowledge of secure coding, CI/CD, DevOps, and modern engineering practices
Leadership & Agile
- 3+ years managing engineers direct
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent experience
- 3+ years practicing agile methodologies
- Experience facilitating all scrum ceremonies
- Proven ability to build, coach, and scale high-performing teams
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution
- Strong customer problem-solving mindset and ownership mentality
- Ability to build strong personal relationships and collaborate across functions
- Balances technical quality with business and customer needs
