Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Performance Management
• Role Clarity: Communicate specific position responsibilities and performance expectations clearly to every worker.
• Training & Evaluation: Provide on-the-job training for workers and regularly evaluate their performance against expectations.
• Development Plans: Assist the Production Supervisor in evaluating shift worker qualifications and designing corrective action plans.
• Supervisor Backup: Step in temporarily as the Production Supervisor during their absence (excluding disciplinary actions beyond oral warnings).
Operations & Floor Resource Management
• Target Achievement: Meet planned shift production levels by closely monitoring processing steps and product flow.
• Resource Allocation: Adjust manpower and equipment dynamically when production variances occur.
• Floor Operations: Perform specific position jobs on the floor as needed to keep production and shipping schedules on track.
• Resource Tracking: Organize and maintain the production floor with the proper tools and parts for the shift schedule.
Quality Control & Documentation
• Quality Awareness: Know the exact quality standards for every workstation and communicate them clearly to employees.
• Internal Relationships: Champion the concept of internal customer and supplier relationships across the facility.
• Defect Containment: Identify non-conforming products, ensure they are contained, and lead the team in finding countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
• Reporting: Deliver precise documentation regarding safety incident tracking, shift productivity, and quality metrics directly to the Production Supervisor.
Safety & Housekeeping
• Safety Promotion: Actively participate in the plant’s safety program to build safety awareness among shift employees.
• Hazard Mitigation: Correct unsafe acts immediately and take quick action when workplace hazards develop.
• Compliance: Operate in a safe manner by strictly following all company rules and safety procedures.
• Housekeeping: Guide workers daily to maintain an orderly, clean, and safe plant floor and grounds.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Outdoor Work: Work outdoors for extended periods of time as required by production needs.
• Weather Exposure: Work comfortably in varying weather conditions and temperatures, including severe heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Physical Tasks: Perform hands-on physical tasks comfortably within these changing environments.
Technical & Role Competencies
• Mathematical Skills: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Perform general mathematical calculations related to mix ratios and capacities.
• Comprehension: Read and fully understand instructions, correspondence, and technical drawings or prints required to execute the job.
• Documentation: Accurately log and record the results of your daily tasks and production metrics.
• Station Expertise: Have or quickly gain sufficient knowledge of each workstation to evaluate the performance of assigned workers and trainees.
• Role Versatility: Demonstrate success in learning and performing all functions and positions within your assigned production area.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Advanced Forklift Operation: Extensive experience operating forklifts to safely transport wide and long objects across varied outdoor terrain.
• Industrial Coating: Prior experience with industrial painting applications using handheld sprayers.
