About this role

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is hiring Lead Fitters/Welders for our plant in Tulsa, OK. As a Lead Fitter/Welder, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll then use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. The Lead Fitter/Welder also inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance on equipment.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a team of welders
    • Repair welds
    • Assist with the completion of tasks to meet deadlines
    • Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, automatic welding and/or semi-automatic welding equipment
    • Perform complex repairs
    • Weld clips and hardware
    • Perform full penetration (such as slip joint) welds to weld ends to poles or channels
    • Operate grinding equipment
    • May train lower levels
    • May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
    • May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
    • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
    • Maintain quality and efficiency
    • Observe all standard safety practices
    • Maintain and complete all required records
    • Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience
    • Flux Core experience
    • Certified to perform horizontal and vertical welds
    • Ability to perform multi-pass welds
    • Ability to perform "C" (circumferential) welds
    • Qualify as a flat welder
    • Ability to maintain 90% pass rate on UT inspection
    • Basic understanding of Oxy Fuel/Plasma burning
    • Basic understanding of Carbon Arcing
    • Ability to maintain good attendance
