Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician at St. Frances Cabrini Academy is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning school environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, and facility upkeep while supporting the daily operations of the school and ensuring that all buildings and grounds are properly maintained in accordance with school standards and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address maintenance, safety, and facility-related concerns.
- Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks as needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with setup and teardown of furniture, equipment, and facilities for school events and activities.
- Monitor building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and security systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs and services.
- Support the mission and values of St. Frances Cabrini Academy and Catholic education.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous maintenance, facilities, custodial, or skilled trades experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery safely.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining a safe school environment.
Work Environment
- School-based setting with responsibilities both indoors and outdoors.
- Requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and carrying materials and equipment throughout the workday.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work to support school events or facility needs.
- Active, hands-on environment requiring responsiveness to maintenance and operational needs.
