Job Summary

The Aftercare Aide supports the school's aftercare program by providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered environment for students after the regular school day. This position supervises students, assists with homework, leads recreational and enrichment activities, promotes positive behavior, and helps ensure the well-being of all children in the program while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.

Job Description

  • Supervise students during aftercare activities, homework time, snack periods, and recreation.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior of all students.
  • Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate games, activities, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support students with homework and study habits.
  • Monitor student attendance and assist with sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and school staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe aftercare environment.
  • Report accidents, incidents, or concerns to the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.
  • Work collaboratively with aftercare staff to provide quality care and supervision.
  • Model Christian values and uphold the mission of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and engage children in a positive manner.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Dependable, organized, and responsible.
  • Supportive of the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
