Tool Crib Attendant
About this role
Summary:
The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for ensuring that the tool room is stocked with the necessary tooling to ensure all CNC Milling machine tools can be set-up as required per the production schedule and that jobs are not interrupted because of unavailable tooling.
Duties
- Responsible for prepping set up kit to include set up sheets, tool holders, fixtures, gauges, vises, raw material, stock from other departments and any other items as called out by set up sheets.
- Assures the set-up kits are prepped according to production schedule.
- Receives all returned kits to crib and inventories contents and replenish/repairs/services tools.
- Responsible for reviewing process improvement suggestions and coordinating with Engineering any updates to setup, program, or process.

- Maintains recycling program for perishable tools to identify, resharpen, recycle, or dispose.
- Responsible for coordinating procurement of tooling to ensure adequate tooling is available to support the organizations’ production needs.
- Initiate purchase requisitions for the ordering of tooling, specialty tooling, perishables, and supplies.
- Responsible for storage and accurate inventory of all tooling and supplies needed for production.
- Responsible for identifying inventory needs and maintaining accurate inventory levels to insure uninterrupted production.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Tool Crib Attendant or related experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in CNC machining
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with machine tool set-up including work-holding, and process related tooling
- Experience with use of basic measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret machined component drawings at a basic level.
- Punctual, accurate, and highly organized work habits.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability to read and understand written procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.
