Aquinas College, a member of the NAIA and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), is seeking an athletic trainer. This position will provide onsite care and management of student athletes’ injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. 

Key Responsibilities:

● Assesses the risk of injury, performs ergonomic evaluations and coaching, advises on self-care techniques and promotes overall wellness. 
● Using electronic systems, documents all patient encounters. 
● Coordinates and implements injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient. 
● Minimizes risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies. 
● Provides accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student-athletes with restrictions and limitations. 
● Communications with physicians and coach staff regarding the injury status of student-athletes. 
● Carries out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. 
● Performs administrative duties as assigned by supervisor. 
● Performs other job duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

● Must have a Master’s Degree, be BOC certified, and possess state athletic training licensure. 
● Must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. 
● Must demonstrate effective assessment and evaluation skills. 
● Must be able to work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals. 
● Must be able to think critically and make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. 
● Must be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. 
● Must be able to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families. 
● Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision. 
● Must be able to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. 
● Must be able to lift and carry objects on a frequent basis. 
● Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
● Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
