Compensation: Starting at $20 per hour (depending on experience).
Location: Chicago, IL
Starting Date:
Seasonal position (This position is seasonal and follows the school district calendar for the 2026–2027 school year.)
Hours:

  • Before Care Monday through Friday between 7 am to 9 am
  • Recess Day Monday through Friday between 10 am to 1 pm
  • After Care Monday through Friday between 2 pm to 6 pm

*Work schedules may vary and are subject to change based on assigned location, program enrollment, school schedules, and operational needs.

Job Description:

Apollo After School offers after-school care and enrichment clubs at local schools. We seek outgoing, personable, and reliable teachers for our school-based programs in the area. No degree? No problem! While a degree in education is highly valued, applicants with relevant experience or a related degree may be considered. We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, patient, and caring individuals who are flexible, responsible, and who have a real, genuine passion for working with children and making a positive impact on their lives.

As an Apollo Teacher, your responsibilities will be:

  • Provide a high-quality learning environment and manage activities that extend the school day;
  • Assist in the implementation of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans when needed;
  • Ensure the safety and security of children enrolled;
  • Follow designated schedule and curriculum, maintain a routine for students;
  • Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skills, and patience;
  • Assist with homework completion;

The requirements for our teachers are:

  • Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.
  • Confidence to run a classroom alone.
  • Applicants must be 18+ and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A team player who can collaborate with peers.
  • Ability to assess and solve problems associated with elementary-aged children.
  • Ability to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment.
  • Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 4-10 in a school/after-school setting.
  • Candidates must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification obtained through in-person training.

Physical Environment:

  • Able to stay active and on your feet for extended periods.
  • Able to move quickly (walk, jog, or run) to ensure student safety.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and participating in physical activities with children.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Our program is highly customizable to fit your school’s needs, and our excellent staff handles all tasks associated with the program. All costs of the program are included with tuition and we operate at no additional cost to the school.
