What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will:

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and hygiene support.
  • Promote independence and help individuals achieve their personal goals and highest quality of life.
  • Provide compassionate, person-centered support in residential settings.
  • Support community participation, relationship-building, and meaningful social engagement.
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, religious services, and family visits.
  • Administer and document medications in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Complete required documentation including daily notes, medication logs, incident reports, behavior tracking, and goal progress reports.
  • Assist with Individual Service Plan (ISP) implementation and outcome tracking.
  • Monitor for health and safety concerns and respond appropriately in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Implement behavior support plans and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements.
  • Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and agency initiatives.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, dignity, and rights of all individuals served.
  • Collaborate with the Residential Manager, Lead DSP, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support individual success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and individuals served.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings and clearances.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to complete required CPR, First Aid, and agency training requirements.

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
  • Six months to one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience implementing behavior support plans and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Medication administration experience.

Schedule

  • Part-Time
  • Friday through Monday
  • 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Weekend availability required
  • Flexibility to work additional shifts as needed to support program operations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, transfer, and support individuals as necessary, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs throughout a shift.
  • Ability to assist with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Ability to operate agency vehicles and transport individuals safely.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
