About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to support middle school through transition-age students with more significant support needs. This is a great opportunity for an SLP who is passionate about functional communication, student independence, and working with a diverse special education population.

Position Overview

The SLP will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students with complex communication needs. AAC experience is a major plus, as the role will focus heavily on helping students develop functional communication skills that they can use throughout the school day and in their everyday lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct speech and language therapy to middle school and transition-age students.
  • Assess and address receptive, expressive, social, and functional communication needs.
  • Evaluate, implement, and support AAC systems and communication strategies.
  • Develop and monitor individualized IEP goals.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and related service providers.
  • Incorporate functional communication strategies into classroom and daily routines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and service records.

Caseload & Student Population

  • Approximately 52 students.
  • Middle school through transition-age students.
  • Students have more significant support needs and may have complex communication profiles.
  • Strong emphasis on functional communication and independence.
  • AAC experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with SLP endorsement.
  • Active Illinois IDFPR Speech-Language Pathologist License.
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Experience with AAC, complex communication needs, or transition-age students preferred.
