AnthroMed Education is seeking a compassionate and collaborative School Social Worker to join a highly supportive early childhood team serving preschool students (ages 3-5) across two campuses in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for a social worker who enjoys working with young learners, partnering with educators and families, and making a meaningful impact during a child's earliest years of education.
This full-time, onsite position serves two school locations, spending approximately 2-3 days at each campus based on student needs.
Position Details
- Location: Washington, DC (2 campuses)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM-4:15 PM
- 40 hours per week
- 30-minute duty-free lunch
- School Year: August 10, 2026 – June 17, 2027

About the Role
You'll support preschool students receiving special education services while collaborating closely with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families. The anticipated direct-service caseload is approximately 20-25 students, though responsibilities extend beyond direct therapy to supporting the broader school community through consultation, behavior support, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide school-based social work services for preschool students ages 3-5
- Participate in the evaluation process and contribute to special education eligibility decisions
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and assist in developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Support IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Deliver behavioral consultation to teachers and classroom teams
- Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support as needed
- Collaborate regularly with educators, psychologists, therapists, administrators, and families
- Respond to consultation and evaluation requests from teachers and parents
- Support school-wide MTSS/RTI initiatives and early intervention practices
- Maintain timely documentation while ensuring compliance with special education timelines and regulations
Qualifications
- Active Washington, DC Department of Health Social Work License
- LGSW accepted
- LCSW preferred
- Experience working in school-based settings preferred
- Experience with preschool or early childhood populations strongly preferred
- Knowledge of special education processes, IEPs, evaluations, FBAs, and BIPs
- Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks is a plus
- Strong collaboration, communication, and consultation skills
- Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to effectively support diverse students, families, and communities

Compensation
$70,000-$90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
