Assistant Manager (Nautical) - Sustainability & Performance Services (SAPS)
About this role
To support the SAPS team in delivering high-quality voyage, technical, environmental compliance, and data-driven performance services across the global fleet. The role ensures accurate monitoring, timely analysis, and proactive recommendations to enhance vessel efficiency, support regulatory reporting, and strengthen decision-making for internal teams and owners.
ROLES ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Monitor and analyze planned and completed voyages, including speed profile, routing, fuel consumption, CII impact, weather routing and adherence to CP requirements
- Support SAPS Managers with performance analysis and optimization, including KPI tracking, variance analysis, and trend identification across vessel operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Environmental compliance tasks, including data verification for DCS/MRV, EU ETS checks, emission trend monitoring, and preparation of compliance documentation.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for SAPS Managers, fleet teams, owners, and senior management, ensuring clarity, accuracy and actionable insights.
- Contribute to data governance and process enhancement, including validation of raw data, improvement of SOPs, testing new tools, and supporting digitalization initiatives across SAPS
- Assist in research and development initiatives, including model improvements, tool updates, and performance benchmarking studies
KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
Technical skills
- Deep expertise in vessel performance analytics, fuel efficiency, optimisation frameworks, and sustainability strategies.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks: CII, EEXI, EEDI, EU-ETS, FuelEU Maritime, DCS, MRV.
- Understanding in AI/ML forecasting, data modelling, dashboard governance, and digital transformation.
Professional skills
Communication Skill
- External: Owners, charterers, commercial operators, class societies, technology vendors, emissions verifiers, regulatory agencies, and international industry bodies.
- Internal: Executive leadership, Fleet/Technical teams, Digital/IT, Data Analytics, HSQE, Compliance, Crewing, and all regional offices.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIO
Education: -
- Nautical: Class II/III COC (Deck)
- Data/Analytics: Maritime background plus analytics exposure preferred
Experience: -
- Minimum 3–5 years seagoing experience (Chief Officer / 2nd off).
- 1–2 years of Performance Centre experience (Voyage/routing experience)
- Exposure to performance monitoring, voyage analysis, or compliance reporting
- Familiarity with digital tools, dashboards, voyage planning systems, and data platforms
