About this role

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Amsted Automotive, Cold Form and Finishing in Geneva, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 to perform mechanical repairs in the Wastewater Treatment area of the plant and basic repairs throughout the plant on 1st shift. Work from instructions, prints, mechanical drawings, schematics and process specifications to: 

  1. Perform waste water treatment, boiler chemistry and environmental procedures.
  2. Independently troubleshoot problems and complete corrective mechanical and welding actions.
  3. Determine if machine parts can be repaired or replaced.
  4. Independently correct maintenance problems in all plant areas.
  5. Prepare requisitions for all spare and repair parts as required for presentation to department head/activity leader/team leader.
  6. Assist and advise outside contractors on any and all work to be completed.
  7. Plan and implement preventative maintenance program.
  8. Assist and advise Engineering and other support groups as required.
  9. Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
  10. Help train and assist operators as required.
  11. Perform necessary periodic maintenance on machines as required.
  12. Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
  13. Use various testing devices and chemicals according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
  14. Perform material handling activities using equipment, including forklifts, according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
  15. Understand and performs ISO 14001 work instructions as identified in, “ISO 14001 Work Instruction Assignments”.
  16. Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
  17. Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
  18. Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
  19. Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced

 

Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education

High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must successfully complete the pre-hire math test.

 Experience:          

Minimum of 5 years experience in a maintenance function.

Skills & Knowledge:            

Electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic analysis and repair.

Forklift operation

Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry over 25 pounds frequently.

Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, grease, carbon, coolants, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.  Full-time position.  May require overtime and weekend hours.
