Position Summary

Ninety percent of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5, and we’re on a mission to help our youngest learners start strong!

 

Join Early Learning Corps as an Early Learning Tutor and you’ll spend your days in a pre-kindergarten classroom to help students build skills and confidence. We’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

 

How does it work? Partnering with a teacher, you’ll help enhance learning. Whether talking, reading, writing, singing, or playing with students, you’ll be helping them to build early literacy and math skills.

 

With the extra attention and support, you’ll make an incredible impact and help ignite a love of learning!

Core Responsibilities

  • Be a caring adult who's focused on helping students thrive
  • Support preschoolers with learning activities throughout the day
  • Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach
  • Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into tracking software
  • Commit to your own growth through coaching and training
  • Share your experience with the community

 

Essential Qualifications

 

By the time you begin your service with Early Learning Corps, you should be:

  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance
  • Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States

Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run September 2026–June 2027.

  • 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
  • Daytime hours (correspond with school start and end times)
  • Monday-Friday (no weekends)
  • Time off on holidays and school release days

 

Part-time positions are also available at 25 and 15 hours per week!

 

Pay & Benefits

 

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $16.02 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.

Early Learning Corps is powered by incredible AmeriCorps members who serve as tutors. Started in 2003, Early Learning Corps has helped more than 128,000 children build early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for kindergarten! Early Learning Corps is administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization, and fueled by research from ServeMinnesota’s National Science + Service Collaborative.
