Mechanical Engineer (Design)
About this role
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of Thermal Management Systems and related mechanical equipment.
The role will focus on creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product documentation using industry-standard CAD tools. Working closely with senior engineers, the successful candidate will support product development, engineering changes, prototype builds, manufacturing release activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to build expertise in mechanical design, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and engineering best practices while contributing to real-world aerospace, defense, and industrial product development programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
- Develop and manage engineering documentation, BOMs, design revisions, and configuration-controlled product records.
- Support product design activities by generating concepts, layouts, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Apply GD&T principles and engineering standards to ensure accurate product definition and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support DFM/DFA initiatives and prototype builds.
- Support design validation, engineering changes, reverse engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and drafting using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, assemblies, machined components, sheet metal, and weldments.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) concepts.
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and design reviews.
- Strong communication, attention to detail, and collaboration skills to work effectively with UK and India engineering teams.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical design.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teams across the UK and India.
