RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support TRI in developing a client-focused program for executing capital projects for a nitrogen facility producing ammonia and several ancillary products
  • Identify and implement debottlenecking opportunities that increase ammonia, urea, or downstream product capacity while maintaining safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and validate process design basis documents, including process simulations, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), utility consumption estimates, equipment sizing criteria, and process control philosophies.
  • Review and approve key process equipment designs
  • Serve as the process technical interface with licensors, and equipment vendors, ensuring design solutions align with plant operating requirements and established technology standards.
  • Lead process safety activities, including HAZOPs, LOPAs, relief system evaluations, Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and the resolution of process safety action items.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more US states, with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed.  The subject work will require licensure in Arkansas.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of process engineering experience with a strong focus on ammonia, urea, nitric acid, UAN, and nitrogen fertilizer production facilities including Primary and Secondary reforming, CO2, removal systems, methanation, syngas compression, ammonia and urea synthesis, prilling and granulation operations, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in ammonia and urea process technologies, including process design, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, optimization, turnarounds, plant expansions, and capital project execution from FEED through commissioning and startup.
  • Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and risk management in highly hazardous chemical facilities, including HAZOPs, relief systems, flare systems, Management of Change (MOC), PSSR, incident investigations, and compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Proficiency with process engineering tools and deliverables, including Aspen HYSYS/Aspen Plus, process simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing, PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and operating procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts and work effectively with operations, maintenance, licensors, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors to improve plant reliability, safety, production, and energy efficiency.
