Job Purpose
The Greenskeeper Maintenance Tech (Spray Technician) supports the Agronomy team by safely preparing and applying fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and other turf management products to maintain exceptional golf course conditions. In addition to spray applications, this position performs routine golf course maintenance duties and helps ensure the course is maintained in accordance with American Golf standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, mix, and apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other turf management products in accordance with label requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain spray equipment and other assigned maintenance equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe chemical handling, storage, and disposal practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor turf conditions and report pest, disease, weed, or irrigation concerns to Agronomy leadership.
  • Assist with daily golf course maintenance activities, including mowing, trimming, bunker maintenance, course setup, debris removal, and other groundskeeping duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support the Agronomy team in maintaining exceptional course conditions for members and guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Previous golf course maintenance experience required.
  • Previous experience with chemical applications or turf management preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Florida Pesticide Applicator License preferred, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and application procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand pesticide labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and application instructions.
  • Working knowledge of required PPE and applicable safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate spray equipment and other golf course maintenance equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf management products while following required safety protocols.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Weekend, holiday, and early morning work may be required based on business and seasonal needs.
