Sales Assistant
About this role
Job Summary:
Under direction of the Sales Manager the Sales Assistant is responsible for supporting sales activities, performing administrative work for the sales department and aiding in data collection, compilation, research, records maintenance, customer reports, customer profiles or program reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as a customer contact and respond to customer inquiries through regular contact.
- Assist sales manager and other sales team members.
- Issue request sheets to other departments and following up.
- Input quotations into customer portal sites.
- Communicate the award of new business contracts with proper team members via the new business notification department standard.
- Conduct contract review upon receipt of customer purchase orders and contracts via the contract review department standard.
- Maintain strong relationships with all customers.
- Maintain knowledge of customer procedures and systems.
- Assist in activities to address open commercial items with customers.
- Perform customer service for trial orders (negotiate with customer for delivery schedule and design revision level, support logistics, etc.)
- Assist in the maintenance of the annual and mid-term or other budgets to support overall business plan.
- Proactively engage in activities necessary to meet annual company and department goals and objectives.
- Engage weekly in reporting activities with the sales manager.
- Update required supplier information in Customer’s Portal and manage various functions including quotes and tooling submissions.
- Other miscellaneous and various jobs/projects as directed by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proven time management skills.
- Motivated & detail oriented.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work non-standard work week when needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in sales/account management.
- Preferred bilingual – Japanese/English (verbal and written)
