General Manager, Sales & Marketing
About this role
Job Summary:
Manages and directs the execution of sales and marketing plans and initiatives. Responsible for all sales, and marketing activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develops annual sales and marketing plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives.
- Directs implementation and execution of sales and marketing policies and practices.
- Ensures sales and marketing communications are coordinated, support objectives and meet organizational expenditure requirements.
- Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
- Manages multiple channel selling strategies.
- Provides leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
- Provides leadership and support for the design, development and implementation of products and service lines.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining budget.
- Oversees and directs market research, competitor analyses and customer service and retention monitoring processes and initiatives.
- Builds, develops and manages sales and marketing team capable of carrying out needed sales and service initiatives.
- Develop staff in both technical and professional skills through performance management (coaching, counseling, discipline, training, annual formal performance evaluations, recognition, etc.).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Outstanding knowledge to manage and lead the company with proper strategy.
- Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Conversational to Fluent language skills in Japanese and English preferred.
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to adapt and be productive in a fast-paced and demanding environment where priorities are constantly changing.
- Proficient in MS Office, specifically with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Appropriate knowledge of the company’s products, customers and transactions
(or ability to learn within a limited amount of time). - Understanding of international trade.
- Willingness to continually learn and study federal/state/international laws and other issues pertaining to the position’s activities.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related business field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years in sales leading a global team.
- Understanding of Japanese business culture.
