About this role

Company Overview

Ambiq is on a mission to enable intelligence everywhere — powering the AI edge revolution with the world's lowest-power semiconductor solutions.

Built on our proprietary sub- and near-threshold technology, our chips deliver multi-fold improvements in energy efficiency without costly process scaling. Since 2010, we've shipped over 300 million units to customers building smarter wearables, medical devices, IoT products, and AI-powered edge applications.

Our cross-functional teams span design, research, development, production, marketing, sales, and operations across Austin, Hsinchu, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Singapore. We move fast, tackle hard problems, and create space for people to grow through complex, meaningful work that shapes the future of technology.

We're looking for self-motivated, creative problem-solvers who are eager to push technological limits and make a real impact in energy efficiency.

At Ambiq, we live by five values: Innovate. Collaborate. Focus. Learn. Achieve.

If that's you, join us — the intelligence everywhere revolution starts here.

Scope

As the Staff Engineer, Product Test Engineering at Ambiq, you will drive the development and optimization of ATE test solutions for integrated circuits, supporting product ramp-up and high-volume manufacturing. You will be responsible for improving production yield and reducing test costs while ensuring the highest standards of product quality and reliability.

This role will work with Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, and external OSAT partners to support new product introduction, production qualification, and manufacturing test optimization across Ambiq’s semiconductor product portfolio.

The successful candidate demonstrates strong technical leadership and a data-driven approach to problem-solving. They are highly collaborative, capable of working effectively across cross-functional and global teams, and possess excellent communication skills to drive alignment with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is proactive, results-oriented, and continuously seeks opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing performance.

The person in this role will develop and maintain ATE test programs and test hardware for new and existing products throughout characterization, qualification, and production. They will lead device characterization, system-to-tester correlation, production site transfer and qualification activities, and support manufacturing ramp-up. This role will analyze test and yield data to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive yield improvement initiatives. Additionally, they will optimize test methodologies and coverage to reduce test costs while maintaining product quality and reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automated test equipment and bench test solutions (hardware and software) for product characterization, qualification, and production of highly integrated ICs.
  • Develop robust and innovative test solutions to achieve yield, test time, and product cost goals.
  • Qualify products for mass production.
  • Ensure that products shipped meet specifications and exceed quality goals.
  • Debug and analyze returns.
  • Develop scripts and tools for pattern generation, data parsing, yield analysis, and production support.
  • Work on problems of broad scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Support production facilities for early production and product ramps.

Qualifications

  • BSEE with around 8 years of experience as a Product and Test Engineer.
  • Must have experience on industry-standard Automated Test Equipment – Cohu Unison platform (Diamond 10/Diamond X) experience preferred; Advantest 93K experience is a bonus.
  • Experience in Mixed-Signal or RF ATE Techniques as well.
  • Experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing Test Processes.
  • Strong understanding of ATE Test Programming principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and improved efficiencies.
  • Hardware design knowledge of LB/Probe Card.
  • Good knowledge of statistical methods and process control.
  • Good software development skills, primarily focusing on C and Perl.
  • Good laboratory equipment and debug skills.
  • Proficiency with quality procedures and documentation.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English communication and presentation skills.

Company at a glance

Ambiq® was founded in 2010 on the simple yet powerful notion that extremely low-power semiconductors are the key to the future of electronics. Through the use of pioneering ultra-low power technology, innovative companies around the world are developing differentiated solutions that reduce or eliminate the need for batteries, reduce overall system power and maximize industrial design flexibility.

Our mission is to enable intelligence (artificial intelligence (AI) and beyond) everywhere by delivering the lowest power semiconductor solutions. We enable our customers to deliver artificial intelligence compute at the edge where power consumption challenges are the most profound. Our technology innovations, built on the patented and proprietary subthreshold power optimized technology (SPOT), fundamentally deliver a multi-fold improvement in power consumption over traditional semiconductor designs. We’ve powered over 270 million devices today.

As we see the shift in devices move from “smart” to “AI,” our technology and solutions have evolved to accommodate the power requirements needed to enable feature rich devices that are always on, high performing, secure, accurate, energy efficient, and just as important practical. Our leadership in powering devices made for edge AI has helped technology innovators across wearable, smart home and buildings, industrial, healthcare, and other sectors deliver intelligent devices that can do more while consuming less.
