Position Summary

The Maintenance Coordinator provides essential support to the Engineering department, assisting with maintenance and repair activities to ensure the hotel remains a safe and comfortable environment for all guests. Reporting to the Director, Engineering & Systems, this role has a strong eye for detail and a sense of commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for hotel guests and employees.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Ambassador of the hotel when addressing guest concerns, consistently providing courteous and professional service.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel including proactive and preventative tasks such as plumbing, fixtures, door and window. maintenance, light and room fixtures, walls and wall coverings, etc.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of upkeeping HVAC units, air units, and filter changes.
  • Communicate effectively with external vendors on special projects and repairs, while having the knowledge and ability to complete basic repairs to guest rooms and public areas of the hotel.
  • Maintain inventory and storage of equipment, tools and supplies.
  • Promptly address guest maintenance requests, work orders, and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the hotel by completing tasks such as pressure washing, painting, and decorating surfaces as needed.
  • Lead with a safety-first approach, always identifying safety hazards, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain exterior grounds safety of hotel by completing tasks such as snow, ice and debris removal in the winter and weed whacking, sweeping and gutter cleaning in the summer.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility by effectively handling emergency situations or maintenance requests whenever they arise.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous maintenance experience in hospitality, preferably in a luxury or boutique hotel setting, is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to interact with guests, colleagues and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to problem-solve, by remaining calm and resourceful under pressure.
  • Collaborative attitude with the willingness to support other departments when needed.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
  • A valid driver’s license and abstract is required.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 23 kg.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, lift, carry, push/pull and transport items up to 25 lbs.

Work Schedule

This position may be part-time or full-time and generally consists of eight-hour shifts. Flexible scheduling is available by mutual agreement, and weekend work may be required.
