Job Scope: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dock Supervisor to oversee the daily shipping and receiving operations at our greenhouse facility. This role is responsible for managing dock activities including the loading and unloading of plants and materials, coordinating logistics with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring accurate inventory control and documentation. The Dock Supervisor will lead a team of dock workers to maintain an efficient, clean, and safe work environment, while meeting tight shipping schedules and quality standards.
Job Requirements:
- Supervise and coordinate all dock operations, including incoming and outgoing shipments of plants and greenhouse supplies.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and loading of live products to prevent damage during transport.
- Work closely with the logistics, production, and inventory teams to align shipping schedules with greenhouse output.
- Train and oversee dock staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate shipping/receiving records and ensure timely communication with carriers and vendors.
- Conduct regular inspections of dock equipment and work areas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Troubleshoot logistics issues and work proactively to resolve delays or discrepancies.
- Direct and actively participate with your assigned crew
- Load and unload freight from trucks using hand trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Sort packages and freight according to destination and type, using scanners and other sorting tools.
- Oversee and responsible for all paperwork associated with the dock to ensure it is handled timely and correctly by employees
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other warehouse staff.
Experience:
- 1+ years in a manufacturing supervisory role, or greenhouse environment
- 1+ years forklift experience
Requirements:
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a preferred
- Prior experience operating a forklift is required.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
