JOB TITLE: Snowsports Training Supervisor

LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Seasonal/Hourly

PAY RATE: $28.88

POSITION:

Responsible for the creation, administration, and quality of the training program for the Solitude Mountain Ski & Ride School. This is a full-time seasonal role from mid-September through April. The Training Supervisor designs, publishes, and manages the training curriculum, materials/tools, and calendars. Lead and model delivery of training on-snow and indoors. Supports a positive employee culture by fostering a growth mindset amongst individuals and teams. Support the daily operations during peak seasons or as needs arise. Works with Alterra counterparts to manage, facilitate and assure the quality of the centralized training between the schools. Reports directly to the Snowsports Director with heavy collaboration and support of base area Snowsports Managers & Supervisors.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 5+ years of experience as a ski and/or snowboard instructor & trainer

• PSIA Level 2 required (level 3 preferred)

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

• Experience working with resort programs such as Flaik, RTP, Workday

• Exceptional communication skills & organizational abilities, including the emotional intelligence to read others' needs, adapt to individuals, and address conflict with empathy and objectivity

• Strong leadership presence and impact, leading with integrity and the resort's values, having crucial conversations, and making difficult decisions when needed

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate and administer staff training/education in all disciplines and age groups to assure the most positive internal and external guest experience. Showcase innovative techniques, service levels and methodology, and incorporate risk awareness and safety at all levels of training.

• Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training content and methods from a guest and employee perspective to ensure exceptional guest experience and relevance.

• Work with Risk and Safety to develop and implement safety measures to improve the overall safety of instructors and guests.

• Assist in the publishing of all written training materials/tools. e.g., operations manuals, teaching handbooks, all hiring materials, etc.

• Lead and coordinate quality and engaging training on technical skills, teaching skills, and people skills in alignment with the PSIA-AASI national standards.

• Work with PSIA-AASI on behalf of the school and its employees, including scheduling and hosting exams and clinics, tracking exam passes, and all other aspects of maintaining PSIA-AASI relationship. Maintain contacts with external presenter/trainers and develop/search for new presenters to deliver training.

• Assist with the development and management of Ski and Ride School training budget according to resort guidelines.

• Work with the Snowsports Director and Managers to guide and facilitate the direction, culture, and quality of the Snowsports School.

• Design, orchestrate, and facilitate Leadership and Trainer's Training.

• Be a role model for excellence in training, coaching, leading, and communicating.

• Heavy collaboration with the hiring team and HR counterparts to coordinate hiring and onboarding of instructors

• Manage staff performance by setting clear expectations and delivering recognition, honest and actionable feedback, coaching, disciplinary action, and seasonal evaluations

• Other duties as assigned
