LOCATION: Solitude Ski & Ride School

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly

PAY RATE: $28.88

POSITION:

This position primarily oversees Solitude's Private Lessons and Guides products, along with specialty programs including skills clinics, multiweek skills clinics, and women’s programs, delivering a premium, personalized lesson experience for guests of all ages and ability levels. This is a full-time, seasonal role from October to May. The Private Lessons Supervisor leads and develops a team of highly qualified, experienced instructors, working closely with our sales and leadership teams to drive guest satisfaction, return business, and strong financial results across the operation. Specific requirements and responsibilities are outlined below.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong, clear communication and leadership skills across 1:1, group, and cross-functional settings, with the empathy and self-awareness to develop, motivate, and adapt to a team of instructors

• Commitment to delivering a premium, service-first lesson experience that earns repeat guests

• Must be dependable, punctual, and accountable, taking ownership and staying persistent to drive work to completion

• Knowledge of basic computer programs and the ability to learn new ones

• Able to synthesize data and experience to make objective, timely decisions on staffing and operations, even in fast-paced or ambiguous conditions

• Possess an organized work style

• Able to be innovative and creative

• On snow supervision of Snowsports operation experience is a plus

• Current Level I PSIA-AASI (or equivalent) Certification. Level II PSIA-AASI Certification preferred

• 2+ years teaching full-time for a ski & ride school; private lesson and/or guiding experience preferred

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a high-performing team of instructors by selecting the right people, coaching, training, ongoing skill development, and helping new team members acclimate quickly

• Implement and manage schedules for instructors and guides under your supervision

• Periodically fill in for other leaders, teach lessons, and conduct training as needed across the operation

• Work directly with sales teams to match guests with the instructors best suited to their goals and optimize the guest experience

• Coordinate with other members of the leadership team to make informed staffing decisions throughout the operation

• Oversee and execute all Private Lessons and Guides products, ensuring a premium, personalized experience that drives guest loyalty and return business

• Manage and execute specialty programs, including skills clinics, multiweek skills clinics, and women’s programs

• Maintain accurate class records, labor performance, and revenue data, and inform on budgets and expense spending for the department

• Keep staff aware of overtime situations and apply appropriate timecard changes

• Manage staff performance with integrity and the resort's values: set clear expectations and deliver recognition, honest and actionable feedback, crucial conversations, disciplinary action, and seasonal evaluations
