Title: Heavy Duty Cleaner 

Location: Tsawwassen Mills (Shuttle Services are available from Scott Road Station and Kwantlen Polytechnic University - Surrey) 
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time & Casual 
Hourly Rate: $20.98 / hour 
Schedule: Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays

Shift:

• Nights: Between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Exterior: Between 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM

 

About the Role

We're looking for a dedicated and dependable heavy duty cleaner to join the Alpine team at Tsawwassen Mills. In this role, you'll help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests, retailers, and staff by performing deep cleaning, floor care, and facility maintenance tasks using specialized cleaning equipment. Your work plays a vital role in ensuring the shopping centre remains well-maintained and ready to welcome visitors each day.

What You Will Be Doing

• Ability to operate industrial and or heavy-duty cleaning machines and equipment; including but not limited to auto scrubbers and sweeping machines, leaf blowers, pressure washers etc
• Perform floor care duties, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning
• Clean, disinfect, and sanitize high-touch and high-traffic areas to maintain a safe environment
• Clean and maintain common areas, including hallways, lobbies, washrooms, and other public spaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from waste bins on a regular basis.
• Spot clean interior surfaces such as walls, ceilings, partitions, light switches, and windowsills
• Complete cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing tasks throughout the facility, with a focus on washrooms and designated client spaces
• Lift, transport, and move equipment, supplies, and other materials as required
• Assist with seasonal duties, including snow removal and salting of walkways and entrances
• Follow health and safety procedures while maintaining equipment and reporting maintenance concerns
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager

 

What You'll Bring

• Previous experience operating commercial or industrial cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, sweepers, or pressure washers is required
• Experience performing professional janitorial or heavy-duty cleaning duties in large, high-traffic facilities.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and transport materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to consistently meet operational requirements.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) is considered an asset.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required site-specific security clearances.
• Reliable transportation is considered an asset.
