Our client is a leading financial services company who is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm.
JOB PURPOSE: Safeguard the enterprise’s financial stability and ensure regulatory compliance by delivering independent actuarial analysis and certification in relation to product pricing, technical reserves, solvency, and risk transfer, while remaining separate from commercial activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate insurance premiums, validate product assumptions, and assess the economic viability of insurance products.
- Determine and establish technical reserves in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular solvency assessments and certify solvency reports submitted to regulatory authorities.
- Identify and report unusual or significant financial risks to management and regulatory authorities when required.
- Review reinsurance programs and confirm whether they provide a significant transfer of risk.
- Work with relevant teams to develop risk models, conduct stress testing, and prepare risk reports.
- Evaluate insurance claims, ensure the separation of capital sources, and prepare financial forecasts.
- Prepare and submit annual actuarial reports to the Ministry of Finance in accordance with prescribed reporting templates.
Requirements
Certificate / Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or another quantitative discipline.
- Mandatory qualification: ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries).
Experience
- Up to 5 years of actuarial experience within life or non-life insurance companies, with exposure to areas such as pricing, reserving, solvency, or reinsurance.
- Experience in regulatory reporting to the Ministry of Finance or equivalent bodies is an advantage.
- Strong customer orientation with a proactive sense of urgency.
- Personal attributes: proactive, diligent, detail-focused, and results-driven.
Skills / Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of life insurance products, valuation techniques, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of technical reserves, solvency assessment, and risk-based capital requirements.
- Familiarity with reinsurance structures and evaluation of significant risk transfer.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) for reporting and cross-functional communication.
- Good knowledge of Vietnamese insurance regulations and Ministry of Finance reporting standards.
