About the Role

The Senior Manager, Audit Center of Excellence AZAP, leads and drives the planning, execution, and delivery of Business, Operations, IT, and Actuarial audits across the Asia Pacific region. This role serves as a strategic partner to the business by proactively identifying emerging risks, strengthening internal controls, and enhancing governance effectiveness.

Key aspects of the role include:
• Regional Audit Leadership – Directing all regional AZAP audits and ensuring consistent quality, methodology, and alignment with Group standards across Operating Entities (OEs).
• Capability Building & Coaching – Supporting local Internal Audit departments with resources, skills, and competencies, while coaching regional Audit Managers to develop high-performing audit teams.
• Quality & Opinion Strengthening – Conducting quality reviews and advising OEs on the alignment of audit findings with risk ratings and impact statements to reinforce robust and credible audit opinions.
• Regional DAMA & AI Lead – Championing data management and AI-related initiatives across the region to drive innovation and efficiency within the audit function.
• Project Leadership – Contributing to and, where needed, leading Group or regional projects in support of wider organizational initiatives.
• Interim Head of Audit – Acting as interim Head of Audit for smaller OEs to ensure continuity until a permanent replacement is appointed.

The role adds value by combining deep audit expertise with strategic advisory capabilities, enabling the organization to navigate risk with confidence and continuously improve its control environment.

What you do

The Team Leader is an experienced senior manager with line management responsibility and more than 9 years of relevant professional experience in internal/ external audit. The individual has in-depth knowledge and experience in several business areas. Besides others, the activities include: Strengthen technical Audit Excellence Support for OE’s in the Regional Delivery Center in Malaysia

Audit Practice
- Take responsibility for the performance of the audit engagements in areas of assigned responsibility
- Plan and execute audit projects, define risk-based audit areas, audit business transactions, workflows, processes and control systems
- Determine deficiencies and vulnerabilities to be remedied, analyze audit results, formulate proposals for solution and support or lead closing meetings
- Maintain the audit system, ensure proper documentation and responsibility for audit report writing
- Comply with the audit policies and the respective standards (independence, integrity, confidentiality, truth and fairness, security, economy, system conformity)
- Verify if the audit’s suggested measures were accomplished (follow up) and support the implementation of the audit recommendations
- Work with OEs in formulating the OE IT, Actuarial Audit plan during PD
- Provide advisory and consultancy to OE IAD (e.g. ACM/Gearshift and other IT AOs related matters)
- Contribute to and, where needed, lead Group or regional projects in support of wider organizational initiatives.
- Take on a role as Regional DAMA & AI Lead, supporting data management and AI-related initiatives across the region.
- Step in as acting Head of Audit on an interim basis when required to ensure continuity.
- Support the strengthening of audit opinions across the region by conducting quality reviews and advising OEs on the alignment of findings with risk ratings and impact statements.

Quality Management
- Support the update of audit methods, initiate improvements of workflows, processes, security and control systems and promote best practice sharing
- Encourage agile ways of working, including facilitating team retrospectives and supporting continuous improvement practices.

Relationship Management
- Take responsibility for the relationship with the auditees (deal with challenging situations, understand different perspectives, deliver challenging conclusions in a diplomatic way etc.)
- Communicate with stakeholders from all hierarchy levels
- Collaborate on departmental and inter-organizational projects
- Support and manage the procurement and contract approval process when external support is required within the region.

What you bring

1) Bachelor level education in a business administration, law, economics or equivalent
2) More than 9 years of audit experience
3) Strong audit technical excellence and ethical characteristics
4) Ability to see the "big picture" and also curious and driven
5) Ability to deal with all types of people and business situations
6) Trusted partner to the business
7) Open-minded, a good listener, able to empathize with the auditee and understand the situation from their perspective.
8) Good communication skills - to tactfully bring across the issues both verbally and in the report
9) Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
10) Sound knowledge and understanding of insurance activities and processes
11) AI skills, eg. Microsoft Copilot would be a plus
