Alight is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Product Design team and help shape the future of AI-enabled product development. As a key member of our team, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Enablement teams to create intuitive, scalable and intelligent experiences that deliver value to our clients and their employees.

This role expands beyond a traditional product design role. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll help shape our AI-powered design practice by creating and supporting design standards and experience frameworks that enable AI-driven product development.

You’ll leverage modern AI tools to accelerate research, ideation, prototyping, and delivery while maintaining design oversight. Your expertise in UX, visual design, and design system governance will help ensure that AI enhances human creativity, not replace thoughtful design judgement.

Success in this role requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence product strategy, and translate complex requirements into clear and actionable design solutions by balancing user needs, business outcomes and long-term scalability.

Please NOTE: Applicants must reside in the United States in one of the 50 States or the District of Columbia in order to be considered for this role.

US Citizenship requirements- as this role supports services provided to the federal government and/or a federal government contractor, proof will be required to verify US citizenship status at time of hire.

Product Design & Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for strategic product initiatives within an AI-enabled Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
  • Translate user needs, business goals, and product requirements into scalable experience frameworks, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and production-ready designs.

Collaboration & Design Direction

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Enablement teams to guide AI-assisted product design workflows.
  • Provide clear design direction and human oversight that helps shape product strategy, ensuring every experience is aligned with product goals.
  • Iterate on design concepts and AI-generated outputs to ensure experiences are intuitive, accessible, scalable and consistent across products and workflows.

Design System Governance

  • Own and evolve the design system, ensuring it serves as the foundation for both human and AI-generated experiences.
  • Ensure UI components and interaction patterns are consistent, reusable and easy for engineering teams to implement across products and workflows.
  • Champion accessibility by adhering to WCAG 2.1 AA standards and supporting semantic structure, clear interaction patterns, accessible keyboard and focus behavior, readable content hierarchy, sufficient contrast, and inclusive usability throughout the user experience.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Research, and Content teams by proactively identifying design opportunities, clarifying ambiguous requirements, and surfacing risks early.
  • Partner with Product Managers to shape product strategy, collaborate with Engineering to ensure design fidelity and technical feasibility, and work closely with Research to identify gaps, validate solutions, and translate insights into product decisions.

Design Generation & Human Oversight

  • Leverage AI to accelerate ideation, exploration and delivery while providing human oversight necessary to ensure thoughtful, high-quality user experiences.
  • Review AI-developed experiences to ensure alignment with user needs, UX best practices, accessibility and design system standards.
  • Establish quality controls that ensure AI enhances design outcomes without compromising trust and usability.

Mentorship & Culture

  • Lead design critiques, establish quality standards, advocate for user-centered decision making.
  • Coach team members on human and AI-assisted design methodologies.
  • Foster a culture where human creativity, design expertise, and responsible AI work together to deliver exceptional user experiences at scale

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hands-on experience using Claude, Claude Design, Figma Make, Figma Design Agent (or similar AI tools) in your day-to-day design process, with an interest in designing AI-native user experiences
  • Proven ability to design and deliver exceptional product experiences for web and mobile applications, combining strong design judgment, executional excellence, and AI-native workflows. We value AI fluency and the ability to leverage emerging design tools, portfolio quality, design craft, and a thoughtful approach to solving complex user problems.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, interaction design, and typography
  • Experience in motion design or micro-interactions
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling design systems, balancing speed, quality, and consistency in a fast-paced environment, with a strong understanding of governance and design-to-development handoff processes
  • Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Figma, including variables, auto-layout, advanced prototyping, managing complex component libraries
  • Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, React)
  • Benefits administration experience and/or experience in user research and testing are a plus
