About this role

STRATEGIC

  • Support the successful delivery of ETIHADWE substation automation and telecommunication projects by ensuring compliance with utility standards, project schedules, and contractual requirements.

  • Contribute to digitalization and automation initiatives through implementation of modern SCADA, RTU, and telecom technologies.

  • Participate in project planning, resource forecasting, risk identification, and mitigation activities.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to telecom network reliability, cybersecurity, and system performance.

  • Promote engineering best practices and standardization across telecom and automation projects.

 

OPERATIONAL

  • Execute installation, testing, commissioning, and integration activities for SCADA, RTU, telecom, and substation automation systems in ETIHADWE substations.

  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot communication protocols including IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 101, Modbus, DNP3, and TCP/IP.

  • Perform RTU, IED, HMI, Gateway, and communication equipment integration with control centers and substations.

  • Execute FAT, SAT, interoperability testing, point-to-point testing, signal validation, interlock verification, and synchronization checks.

  • Coordinate installation and commissioning of telecom systems including MPLS-TP, OTN, SDH, Ethernet, Fiber Optic Networks, and 48V DC Systems.

  • Review telecom and SCADA drawings, signal lists, architecture diagrams, FDS, cable schedules, and technical submittals.

  • Support engineering reviews and technical evaluations of vendor and subcontractor submissions.

  • Coordinate with ETIHADWE representatives, consultants, vendors, and project teams to obtain approvals and resolve technical issues.

  • Monitor site progress and ensure completion of telecom and SCADA activities within approved project schedules.

  • Prepare commissioning procedures, testing reports, as-built documentation, and handover dossiers.

  • Troubleshoot communication failures, network issues, and system integration challenges during project execution and operational phases.

  • Ensure compliance with ETIHADWE standards, project specifications, cybersecurity requirements, and quality procedures.

  • Participate in energization activities and provide technical support during system cutovers and migration works.

  • Maintain project records, testing documentation, inspection reports, and engineering registers.

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Provide technical guidance and support to Telecom Technicians, Commissioning Technicians, and subcontractor personnel.

  • Coordinate daily site activities and monitor workforce productivity.

  • Support training and knowledge transfer initiatives for project team members.

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE requirements, and project procedures.

 

PRODUCT/PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

  • Identify opportunities to improve telecom network performance, system reliability, and operational efficiency.

  • Recommend design enhancements and value-engineering solutions for telecom and SCADA systems.

  • Support implementation of digital engineering tools and automation initiatives.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring technical issues.

  • Contribute to standardization of telecom, RTU, and automation engineering practices.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in SCADA, Telecom, RTU, and Substation Automation Projects.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Utility Substation Projects within UAE/GCC.

  • Proven experience in ETIHADWE/FEWA utility projects.

  • Hands-on experience with IEC 61850, IEC 104, Modbus, RTU integration, and telecom network commissioning.

  • Experience in FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning, and energization activities.

  • Experience coordinating with utility clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Strong understanding of ETIHADWE substation communication and automation requirements.

  • IEC 61850 Engineering and Configuration Training.

  • SCADA / RTU System Certification preferred.

  • Fiber Optic Installation and Testing Certification preferred.

  • MPLS-TP / Telecom Network Certification preferred.

  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certification preferred.

  • Project Management Certification preferred.

  • Valid UAE Driving License preferred.
