Purpose of the Position

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to support the development of innovative active implantable medical devices. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to technologies that improve patient lives.

As a Software Engineer, you will be involved throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from concept and design through qualification, release, and maintenance. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, quality, regulatory, and clinical teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in a regulated medical device environment.


Key Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting active implantable medical device systems
  • Participate in all phases of software development, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, release, and maintenance
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using modern software development practices
  • Contribute to software architecture and implementation decisions
  • Enhance engineering efficiency through the development of tools, utilities, and improved workflows
  • Support software integration activities with hardware and firmware systems

Technical Problem Solving

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, system issues, and field-reported concerns
  • Support hardware debugging activities and collaborate with engineers to identify root causes of system-level issues
  • Analyze technical problems and develop effective solutions using sound engineering principles
  • Participate in risk assessment and mitigation activities throughout product development

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to define and refine software requirements
  • Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Manufacturing teams to support product development objectives
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive technical feedback
  • Ensure timely delivery of software solutions that meet quality and performance expectations
  • Assist with user training and technical support activities as needed


Experience and Professional Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience
  • Experience supporting products through concept, development, production, and maintenance phases
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams

Technical Expertise

  • Strong recent experience with C#
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex software applications
  • Ability to work effectively within existing software architectures and codebases
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, including code reviews and documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines

Leadership & Collaboration Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across technical disciplines
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback during peer reviews
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and professional growth

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cross-platform application development
  • Experience with multithreaded programming
  • Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks
  • Knowledge of common software design patterns
  • Experience within the medical device industry or another regulated environment
  • Familiarity with software development processes supporting quality and regulatory requirements
