Founding Product Engineer
About this role
We are looking for a Founding Product Engineer with 3+ years of experience to own the "last mile" of product delivery at Alcove — the leading shared housing platform that's cracked the code on co-living and is poised for nationwide scale. You'll be the third engineering hire, joining the CTO and Backend Lead in-person in SF to bring new products to life end-to-end. We want someone entrepreneurial and product-minded who thinks deeply about the problems they're solving, not just the code they're shipping. This is a role for a hungry builder who's excited by AI tools, moves fast, and wants to be part of a team that's ready to scale after years of careful iteration. The equity is meaningful and the opportunity is massive — you could be the first product hire at a company planning to grow engineering 5-10x in the next two years.
What will you be doing?
Owning UI delivery for Alcove's new products — given a REST API and business requirements, you'll bring solutions to life with sharp, easy-to-use interfaces
Working directly with stakeholders and leadership to discover problems, internalize the business context, and make product decisions independently
Collaborating with backend engineers on API contracts and owning the design and front-end implementation (using AI tools like Claude Design in lieu of a dedicated designer)
Growing into fullstack feature ownership, React Native app development, and product marketing over time
