The Clothing Initial Issue Point (CIIP) Tailor is responsible for performing alterations, repairs, and adjustments to issued uniforms and organizational clothing to ensure proper fit, functionality, and compliance with applicable standards. This position supports CIIP operations by providing timely, high-quality tailoring services. Employees working 40 hours per week are eligible to receive fringe benefits per hour worked in accordance with company policy and contract requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Perform alterations and adjustments to uniforms and issued garments.
  • Hem trousers and sleeves; adjust waistlines; repair seams, zippers, buttons, and other garment components.
  • Take accurate measurements and mark garments for proper fit.
  • Ensure garments meet organizational appearance standards.
  • Operate industrial and standard sewing machines safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain records of alterations completed, as required.
  • Assist with garment issue and turn-in processes when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tailoring workspace.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous tailoring or sewing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of garment construction and alteration techniques.
  • Ability to operate sewing equipment (industrial machines preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented CIIP environment.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result, obtain and maintain a CAC.
  • Applicant must possess a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Full-Time (40 hours per week).
    • Schedule determined by CIIP operational needs.
