Supply Technician
About this role
Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is looking for a Supply Technician to support Army Central Issue Facility (CIF) operations at Fort Stewart, GA. The Supply Technician performs technical supply management functions associated with the receipt, storage, accountability, issue, exchange, turn-in, inspection, and maintenance of Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE) and other Army-issued property. The position provides direct support to units and installation personnel throughout the CIF issue and turn-in processes. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate property accountability, processing equipment transactions, conducting inventories and inspections, operating Army logistics information systems, and ensuring CIF operations are conducted in accordance with Army regulations, established procedures, and contractual requirements. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple concurrent responsibilities in a high-volume customer service and warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Conducts daily Central Issue Facility operations, including the issue, turn-in, exchange, receipt, storage, inventory, and accountability of OCIE and other authorized Army property.
- Provides professional customer service and assistance to Soldiers during CIF in-processing, out-processing, equipment issue, turn-in, and exchange transactions.
- Maintains accurate accountability of assigned equipment, ensuring property records, transaction documentation, and system records are complete and accurate.
- Conducts physical inventories, reconciles discrepancies, and assists with research and resolution of missing, excess, damaged, or unserviceable equipment.
- Performs detailed inspections of equipment returned to the CIF to determine condition,
- serviceability, cleanliness, completeness, and eligibility for turn-in or exchange.
- Ensures equipment is properly stored, protected, organized, and readily available for issue while maintaining efficient use of CIF storage space.
- Operates material-handling equipment and other authorized equipment as required to support CIF warehouse operations.
- Ensure all supply transactions and customer actions are completed accurately and within established processing timelines.
- Identifies process issues and recommends corrective actions to improve customer service, accountability, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinates with unit supply personnel, CIF management, Government representatives, and other installation organizations to resolve equipment and accountability issues.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Army supply operations and property accountability procedures.
- Working knowledge of Logistics Information Systems (LIS).
- Knowledge of Army Central Issue Facility operations, including OCIE issue, turn-in, exchange, inventory, inspection, storage, and accountability.
- Ability to interpret established supply procedures and apply them to individual transactions, equipment discrepancies, inventory requirements, and customer actions.
- Ability to collect and analyze information, identify discrepancies, establish facts, and take or recommend appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and customer service standards in a high-volume operational environment.
- Discretion and trustworthiness due to frequent access to Government property, records, and potentially sensitive information.
- Must maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license and applicable Government/Army licenses or certifications required for assigned duties.
- Must comply with OSHA, EPA, fire regulations, Army requirements, and published company policies and work rules.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of prerequisite training for Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 92Y, Unit Supply Specialist, 92A, Automated Logistics Specialist, or equivalent military/civilian supply training.
- Four to six years of Army supply, logistics, property accountability, warehouse, or CIF experience.
- Prior experience supporting an Army Central Issue Facility or similar military clothing and equipment issue/turn-in operation.
- Military experience at the E-5 through E-6 level in a supply or logistics-related position is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Army property accountability procedures, hand receipts, equipment records, and supply documentation.
Physical Demands
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment, containers, and material associated with CIF operations.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and work in warehouse and storage areas for extended periods.
- May be required to work in areas with varying temperatures and outside in inclement weather when necessary.
- Must be capable of safely handling Army clothing, individual equipment, containers, and other assigned property.
- May be required to operate material-handling equipment after completion of applicable training and authorization.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, safety footwear, protective eyewear, hearing protection, head protection, and other protective equipment as required.
- Work may require prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and repetitive handling of equipment and materials.
- Must be capable of working safely in warehouse, storage, issue, turn-in, and customer service areas.
