Accounting Clerk II (Transportation)
About this role
This position uses knowledge of double entry bookkeeping in performing one or more of the following: posting actions to journals, identifying subsidiary accounts affected, making debit and credit entries, and assigning proper codes. The Accounting Clerk II may review computer printouts against manually maintained journals, detect and correct erroneous postings, and prepare documents to adjust accounting classifications and other data, or review lists of transactions rejected by an automated system. In this instance, the Accounting Clerk II will determine reasons for rejections, and prepare necessary correcting material. On routine assignments, an employee will select and apply established procedures and techniques. Detailed instructions are provided for difficult or unusual assignments. Completed work and methods used, are reviewed for technical accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible for DoD Syncada requirements, cost record functions to include the accountability, procurement, and disposition of all Commercial Bills Of Lading (CBL’s).
- Ensures entries in Syncada match corresponding CBL for payment.
- Monitors the delivery of shipments under the Syncada System on a daily basis.
- Accountant monitors to ensure the carrier enters a shipment was delivered in Syncada, and applicable charges match those on the matching CBL, the Facilitator recommends approval of payment for that bill.
- Monitors for charge discrepancies on Syncada and validates transaction.
- Processes spreadsheet of cost and submits to government for approval and payments.
- Responsible for the preparation and on time submission of all required reports. Command vehicle lists for all assigned vehicles, monthly mileage costs, monthly 4ID bus costs and additional reports/OPORDS requested by the government.
- Updates, verifies, and posts all justification memorandums. Tracks, monitors, and orders credit cards for General Services Administration (GSA) vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of automated data systems.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of an office's work and routine.
- Must be able to choose among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex transactions.
- Two years’ experience in accounting environment, with some knowledge of military operations and schedules.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License prior to starting or by 30 days after employment.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC.
- Must receive a favorable background check and drug screen results.
